About the pilot project
The EHDS2 Pilot project will bring together national data permit authorities, public health infrastructures and health research infrastructures, in order to enable linking and integrating data between data sources. This pilot project is a major first step that will allow practical validation of this concept i.e. the access to health data in Europe.
The EHDS2 Pilot project is very important because it taps into the wealth of health data which today is fragmented across Europe and research has difficulty to access this data for science.

15 March 2023 - PROOF OF CONCEPT: In March 2023, the HealthData@EU Pilot project entered a crucial phase: the proof of concept (POC) phase. We are pleased to share with you the new HealthData@EU Pilot report which provides a first high-level vision of the target architecture of the POC and details the key steps to deliver the minimum viable product by the end of 2023. 16 December 2022: CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: The External Advisory Board will provide additional insight and expertise to the project activities, which covers the entire user journey for the European Health Data Space (EHDS), including data discovery (metadata standards), data access (regulatory and legal compliance), and data preparation and use (data interoperability and quality).
By participating in the HealthData@EU Pilot External Advisory Board, you will contribute in shaping the future European Health Data Space for secondary use and in ensuring that it is fit for purpose for all categories of stakeholders.Deadline for submission of applications: 13 January 2023. 18 July 2022 CONSORTIUM VIDEO: The European Commission has announced its decision to choose the consortium led by the French Health Data Hub to set up a pilot project for the European Health Data Space. This project will aim to feed the legislative discussions around the draft regulation proposed by the European Commission on May 3rd on the European Health Data Space. Our winning consortium will gather sixteen partners, from ten European countries. Its objective will be to address the challenges surrounding access to health data throughout the EU, to open new perspectives to research and innovation. View the video here.
